Lent

Hello everyone,

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent, a time of prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and repentance, in the Catholic Church.  I just wanted to let you know that I will be fasting from my time on the computer this Lent.  Of course this doesn't include school work on the computer or important e-mails, but time I use binge pinning that I could use elsewhere to grow closer to God and spend more time with Him.

Now, Lent is a period of 40 days of preparation for Easter as well.  But if you count the days from Ash Wednesday until Easter, it's 46! 😮  What does this mean?!  Well, it means that each Sunday during Lent is a mini Easter, and therefore, not a mandatory day of penance.  Of course some people continue their Lenten fasts even on Sundays, and that is good too.

So I pray you all have a blessed Lenten season.  I will not be completely gone from my blog of course as I hope to post on Sundays and I'm very excited about Beauty and the Beast week!  but before you go, please read this wonderful article from The Catholic Gentleman on 7 Ways to Have a Good Lent!  It is very helpful!  I hope to devote more time to spiritual reading, silent time with God, and prayer.

"The Lord bless thee, and keep thee. The Lord shew his face to thee, and have mercy on thee. The Lord turn his countenance to thee, and give thee peace." ~Numbers 6:24-26

Again, I won't be completely gone, but I wish you and yours a very blessed and fruitful Lenten season!

  1. Thank you for putting that article there, I really enjoyed reading it. I will be sort of giving up blogging and non-homeschool related things on the computer too.

    Good Luck and God Bless.
