Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Me in my Christmas dress!  I got it from Down East Clothing!

Hi all!
Merry Christmas!!!  I thought I'd share some pictures from Christmas!!!

Our family makes this yummy treat every year called "Puppy Chow".  It is not really for dogs though.
It is Crispixs cereal, melted chocolate chips, butterscotch ships, and powdered sugar!!! Yum!

Our Christmas Tree!

My all time favorite gift was my Anne of Green Gables movie set!  Prepare for a marathon!!!

We also went to go see The Hobbit on the 16th for the premiere.  I am not obsessed like my sister at, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.  If you are a movie cryer (which I am not..) prepare for a tear-jerker!

I pray that all of you have a safe, happy and fun New Year's Eve! God bless! <3

It's Christmas Time Again!!

Merry Christmas!!!

Wow! Advent passed sooo fast!!!  I'm sorry I didn't post twice last week!  My family has been so busy!  We went to see three plays; Meet Me In St. Lewis, White Christmas, and the Nutcracker ballet!  They were all amazing!  It's been a wonderful December and there are just days until Christmas!!!!
So it's that time of year again!  My family has decorated the house, the tree, and the yard!  I just absolutely love this time of year.  It is the time when we remember our Savior's birth, the humble arrival into the world.  The King of kings had a feeding trough as His crib!  I'm really trying to remember this and the real reason for the season.

What is your favorite part of Christmas?  I love singing all of the songs and sitting by the tree at night with all of the house lights off and the glow of the tree lights filling the room. :)  It reminds me of Jesus' light, the light of the star, and the light we need to share with others showing God's love at Christmastime. :D
I also love going to Mass on Christmas morning!  It's wonderful with all of the poinsettias around the manger and the beautiful hymns the schola sings in harmony!  We will be doing Silent Night, Joy to the World, Hark the Herald Angels sing, and a new piece we learned called O Magnum Mysterium.
You can listen to it below  It is so beautiful!  It is one of my new favorite schola pieces!

I thought I would share two other blogs with you who have great Christmas posts.
Emma at has a funny Christmas post with all of her favorite traditions!  I wish I could find the falling snow like Emma has at here blog!

And Verjinyah at Catching Our Lady's Roses is hosting a Christmas writing competition!  You can find the details here!  I hope you enjoy exploring some of my all time favorite blogs!  Please check them out!
We put our lights up on the house!

My favorite traditional songs are Silent Night, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, and Joy to the World!  What are your favorite Christmas songs?  I have found some other new non-traditional songs that I absolutely love!
Jamie Grace's The King is Born Tonight is such a great song.
Francesca Battistelli's song "Chrsitmas is Almost Here" is one I love listening to over and over!

The Robertsons from A&E's Duck Dynasty have pulled off a redneck Christmas in Duck the Halls!

This is a really cute song with a twist on the Twelve days of Christmas!
Barlow Girl's Carol of the Bells/ Sing We Now of Christmas is very pretty.
Straight No Chaser's The Twelve Days of Christmas is awesome too!

And here is one of my favorite Christmas songs from Veggie Tales by Toby Mac and Owl City!
"Ligt of Christmas"

I will post more Christmas pictures after Mass and such!!! :D

Merry Christmas everyone!  I hope you all have a blessed season and a happy new year!  I'm not sure how much I'll be able to post after Christmas before the new year, but please stay tuned!  I'll have more out soon!  God bless your Christmas season!!! :)

For Narnia, and for Aslan!

Our family just loves the Narnia books by C.S. Lewis.  He was an Anglican convert from atheism.
He wrote a seven book series on four siblings growing up in England during World War II.
I love how the four siblings work together facing the trials and conquering evil.  I love Peter's leadership, Susan's courage, Edmund's humility, and Lucy's love and faith.  C.S. Lewis used Christianity as the basis of his story line.  Aslan is Jesus, who gives his life for them on account of Edmund's sin.  Such a beautiful story!

You can visit Narnia's official website here. I have read 5 of the 7 books:

These are easy and enjoyable reads about family, courage, honor, and doing what is right.

There have been 3 Narnia Movies made so far.

The Silver Chair is supposedly coming out in 2016 or 2017.  I can hardly wait!!!

My sister and I love the beautiful dresses of the girls and the horses!

If you haven't read the books or watched the movies, they are a must!  There is something for everyone in the wardrobe!

Hi everyone!

I hope you had a blessed Second Sunday of Advent!  Today is the feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary!!!  It is also Wear the Veil Day!

Please also prayerfully consider reading this great article on the Immaculate Conception!  It is so beautiful how Mary was cleansed of original sin when she was conceived!

Advent is a time of repentance and preparation.  People commonly mistake it for "The Christmas Season".  At 12:00pm Christmas night, the radio goes back to regular music and people take down their tree on the 26th!  The Christmas season for us begins on Christmas Eve and goes through Candlemas on February 2nd.  I'm excited to get our advent wreath out, and start singing "O, come O come, Emmanuel" at Mass!  It's my favorite Advent song, especially the Latin harmony version our schola does!

The word Advent comes from the Latin 'Adventus, a, um' meaning 'Arrival, coming' and from the verb 'Advenire' meaning 'to come', ad- meaning 'to' and veni meaning 'come'.  We are waiting for the coming of the Lord at Christmas and at the end of the world, for Jesus in our hearts, and His arrival at Bethlahem.

What are some of your family's Advent traditions?
Every year at Advent my family has a blessing of the Advent wreath, blessing of the Christmas tree, and a nativity countdown set.  I also have a small manger and Baby Jesus in my room.  Every Advent, I try to do as many good deeds or sacrifices as possible.  For every act, I place a straw in the manger.  By Christmas, the manger will (hopefully) be full of straw to make a soft bed for Baby Jesus! When my sister and I were younger, we visited for fun Advent activities!  You can go there and sign up for Advent Adventure where they'll send you e-mails with all kinds of fun activities, videos, print-outs, and so much more!

My facorite music to listen to durring Advent is "Advent at Ephesus" by the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles! They have such beautiful music!  It's great to listen to during school!

Here's a cassual Advent outfit inspiration!  Piece together what you have and find stuff and second hand stores!
"Buy used and save the difference!"
as the Duggars say!

Here's a nice skirt idea for advent as well!  Check out Virjinyah's modesty post for Advent at Catching Our Lad's Roses!

May God bless your Advent!
