You are my Lucky Star

Hello friends,

I found out the sad news that Debbie Reynolds passed away yesterday at the age of 84.  She was in many pictures throughout her life, but what I know and love her for is the role of Kathy Selden in Singing in the Rain.  She was 19 when she played this role.

I like to relate to Kathy because she calls herself a stage actress, although she's only really aspiring, as am I.  She's such a sweet girl.  It's funny she doesn't recognize the famous actor Don Lockwood when they first meet, but then when she does realize it, she doesn't "fan-girl" over him like most of us probably would have.  Instead, she actually hides her own love for the star and casually talks about his pictures instead.

Also, Kathy sticks by Don when his picture gets terrible feedback.  She and their friend Cosmo encourage him that "the show must go on"!

Debbie was also known for The Unsinkable Molly Brown.  I have yet to see this movie although my mom really likes it.

And finally one movie that is probably over looked or insignificant in her career is Charlotte's Web.  It was a childhood classic for me.  Debbie played the voice of Charlotte the spider.

She had a very sweet voice to play Wilbur's closest friend.  Everyone loved Charlotte.

I'm sad that we have lost yet another great film actress.  We will be forever grateful for Debbie's contribution to musicals and pictures.
May she rest in peace.
