Homeschool Q&A

So, where should I start?
Homeschooling-

I think that explains a lot. My sister and I are taught by our parents at home.  You may wonder why?

Q- Why should you be at home to do school instead of going to school?  You miss out on all the great experiences!

A- There are many reasons that different parents have for homeschooling their kids.  One reason our family homeschools is because there is not a great Catholic school here.  We also don't have to get up between 5 and 6 in the morning, do extra homework on top of our school work, or deal with the daily drama on the bus, in the locker room, or in the halls.  We actually don't miss out on a lot of the good things public or private schools have to offer.  We have our own school uniform and Logo from Mother of Divine Grace (MODG) through Land's End, we have field trips with our local homeschool group, we participate in lots of extra curricular activities, and we even had a yearbook this year that everyone signed. Homeschoolers wear their PJ's a lot during school, although I personally like to get up and get dressed first thing.

Q- Are your kids socially awkward?

A- No.  This is the stereotype for homeschoolers.  We are not socially awkward.  Homeschoolers are normally outgoing and friendly.  We are actually very social in our conversations.  We enjoy chatting with both homeschool and public or private school kids.  We talk about school subjects, college plans, jokes, our faith, clothing, movies, music, ect.  We may not be totally up to date on the latest pop-singer, but we do not only listen to classical music.  All families are different.  Our family listens to the Christian Radio, Gregorian Chant, and classical music.  Yes, we do watch TV.  Some of our families favorite shows include; Duck Dynasty, 19 Kids and Counting, Diners Drive-ins and Dives, and others.

Q- Do you have a set time for schooling?

A- Not really.  We start somewhere around 8:00, 8:30, 9:00, or even 10:00 A.M.  It varies on certain days and between families.  Some days are free from school with appointments, homeschool get-togethers, birthday parties, or vacations.  The school year and week is very flexible.

Q- What do you do for fun or sports?

A- I love acting and was in plays at our old church for a few years.  Right now God has not provided an outlet for my acting.  I am taking a Trampoline and Tumbling class (T-N-T) at our local gymnastics place and my sister takes gymnastics.  Our homeschool group has a weekly PE/boot camp, and has also had a ballet class in the past.
