Ask Me Anything About Homeschooling

Hello friends!!  I have been absent from this blog for quite some time now and I think it's time to finally wrap it up.  A while ago, I asked you for questions about homeschooling since this blog was about my life as a homeschooler.  I have answered them below and I thank you for being such wonderful readers!

From Ceci:

What was your favorite part about being homeschooled?

Ooh! Good first question. I think my favorite part about being homeschooled was the really great Catholic education and the flexibility of your schedule. Yes, there were some cons, but they were small and there were definitely more pros!

Least favorite?

I really like classrooms so I missed that. Also, I get very easily distracted, so sitting at our dining room table looking out a large window was certainly not ideal. Even though I only have 1 sister, there was plenty to distract me from my work. (:

Who was your favorite MODG teacher? (if you did LS classes)

I really only took Latin as an LS class and 2 of my teachers were named Rachel. 😊 Two of my teachers also got married during the school year, so I can't remember exactly who was who. They were all pretty great. But my favorite teacher was the Rachel who wasn't in college. She was so good.

From Ekaterina:
Now that you are graduated, how has homeschooling prepared you for college or for you life after high school?

I'm not in college and I graduated 2 ½ years ago (😱) but I would say homeschooling has served me well. Because I grew up socializing (yes, I was socialized) with kids and adults of all ages, I feel I am well equipped as a tutor and babysitter. Our homeschooling curriculum also gave me an appreciation for poetry, classical literature, and Catholic teaching that I wouldn't receive many other places.

How has homeschooling affected the person that you are today?

Many aspects of homeschooling have shaped who I am today. I believe my home education is still shaping me as I always look around for new learning opportunities. Even though our curriculum did not have as many deadlines, I think it taught me to pursue learning on my own and to get things done. As I mentioned before, homeschooling fostered a love of poetry, religion, and other studies for me. Mostly, it gave me a solid foundation and pushed my comfort zone.

Thank you ladies for these great questions!! And now I think it's time to say goodbye to this little blog. I will leave it up here under this new design.  I'm still writing occasionally at His Voice is Sweet. Who knows? I may start another blog with a blank slate for a fresh and inspired start. Thank you all so much for being faithful and supportive readers! God bless and love you all!!
