The Literary Heroine Blog Party Link-Up!

Hello ladies!  I'm so sorry I haven't written for so long!  I found out about a link-up of my dreams!  Emma at A Lantern In Her Hand joined The Literaty Heroine Blog Party, so I thought I would join her!

~ The Questions ~
1.       Introduce yourself! Divulge your life's vision, likes, dislikes, aspirations, or something completely random!

Hello lovely ladies!  My name is Sarah and I am a daydreaming homeschooler in the 10th grade! Before I settle down into my 'House of Dreams', I would love to be an actress in musical theater.  I would love to be a mother or maybe a religious sister.  I love all things Anne of Green Gabels, faith, modesty, and fun.   For a random fact, hm... I like shabby chic and share a bedroom with my sister.

2.     What, to you, forms the essence of a true heroine?
A girl who is bright, faithful, and understanding.  She must know right from wrong and have strong convictions.  There are many different types of heroines, but this would be my ideal!!!

3.   Share (up to) four heroines of literature that you most admire and relate to.
First of all, lovable Anne Shirely!
She is such a kindred spirit.  I admire her for vivid imagination.  I cannot ever compare my imagination to hers, but she has inspired me to use it much more often.  I love her romantic undertone in everything she says.  She is understanding of Katherine Brooke, loving towards Dianna, and forgiving of Gilbert.

Next is Elsie Dinsmore.
She loves Jesus with all her heart, is so strong in her faith, and wants more than anything for her Papa to love Jesus too.  She has such a friendly disposition with a Christ-like love.  I aspire to love Jesus as much as she does!

Katherine Tyler from The Witch of Blackbird Pond is also a wonderful heroine.  She has an adventurous spirit not falling for the first young man who comes along.  She also stands up for herself and Hannah Tupper, the quaker.

4.   Five of your favorite historical novels?
The Anne of Green Gabels series by L.M. Montgommery. (of course!)

Also, A Lantern in Her Hand by Bess Streeter Aldrich, Young Pioneers by Rose Wilder Lane, Elsie's Stolen Heart bassed on the books by Martha Finley, Calico Captive by Elizabeth George Spear, and Mara, Daughter of the Nile by Eloise Jarvis McGraw. (I know I'm already over my limit, but I love David Copperfield by Charles Dickens as well!)

5.    Out of those five books who is your favorite major character and why?
Anne.  Need I say more? ;)
She is inspiring, romantic, and she is a great inspiration for realizing your dreams. (Her's was being an authoress.)  Anne IS a kindred spirit.  I can also relate to her in that we both get into scrapes and make horrible mistakes that put us in, "The depths of despair!"

6.    Out of those five books who is your favorite secondary character and why?
Gilbert Blythe.
Gill is a charming friend, and eventually a life long partner for Anne.  I would love for someone to stand on his head for me!  Gill waited for his girl, and I hope someday my Gilbert will do the same.

7.    If you were to plan out your dream vacation, where would you travel to - and what would you plan to do there?
I would go to P.E.I. (Prince Edward Island) and visit all the landmarks like Green Gables and L.M. Montgomery's house.  I would also go to see "Anne of Green Gables, the Musical" and "Anne and Gilbert, the Musical" because I love musical theater.  The sunsets and beaches on the island are amazing!  It would be amazing to play a character in that musical one day!

8.   What is your favorite time period and culture to read about?
My favorite time period is the Westward Expansion. (1780-1860).  I would have loved to grow up on a farm, moving west, wearing a calico dress, and going to barn raisings!  The thought of the prairie breeze blowing through my hair is thrilling.

9.    You have been invited to perform at the local charity concert. Singing, comedy, recitation, tap dancing… what is your act comprised of?
I would probably  preform little skits and songs taken from musicals and stage plays.  I love acting and bringing joy to people through comedy and music!

10.     If you were to attend a party where each guest was to portray a heroine of literature, who would you select to represent?
Anne Shirely.  I'm hoping to make her 'Lady of Shallot' dress soon!  (With much of my sister's help.)

11.    Favorite author(s)?
I have so many! Here are some of my top few: L.M. Montgomery, Elizabeth George Spear, Martha Finley, and C. S. Lewis.

12.    In which century were most of the books you read written?
Most of the books I have read were written in the 20th century.

13.   In your opinion, the ultimate hero in all literature is…
Jesus Christ in The Bible.  He is the Savior, Emmanuel, and the ultimate roll model.  He died to save me from sin.  That is the ultimate hero.

14.   In your opinion, the most dastardly villain of all literature is...
Citizen Chauvelin from "The Scarlet Pimpernel".  He is a despicable character who is self centered, conceited, and loathsome.  Need I say more?

15.    Describe your ideal dwelling place.
As a single young lady; a quaint apartment decorated shabby~chic pink and white.

As a married mother; a small house in the country that has 2 stories with a real wood burning fireplace and cute children's bedrooms.

16.   Sum up your fashion style in a short sentence.
Classic, modest fashion, most likely with floral patterns and pink shades.

17.    Three favorite Non-fiction books?
The Story of a Soul by St. Therese of Liseux, St. John Bosco and St. Dominic Savio by Catherine Beebe, and Growing Up Duggar by the Duggar girls!

18.    Your duties met for the day, how would you choose to spend a carefree summer afternoon?
I would spend it coloring outside in the grass.  I love coloring sheets and coloring books!!!

19.    Create a verbal sketch of your dream hat - in such a way as will best portray your true character.
I don't really like hats... so I don't have an answer at the moment, something like one Elsie Dinsmore or Anne would have worn.  I would definitely love a hat pin!!!

20.    Share the most significant event(s) that have marked your life in the past year.
I went to a mother daughter retreat in June, entered the 10th grade, I turned 15 last summer, went to The Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angels for their annual Boutique, recieved the Anne of Green Gables movie series for Christmas, and went to Disneyland in February!

21.   Share the Bible passage(s) that have been most inspiring to you recently.
May the Lord bless you and keep you, may His face shine upon you! Num 6:24-25
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Phil 4:8

I hope you all enjoyed this horribly long post!  I have soooo many favorite books, authors, and characters that I would love to list here, but allas, this is already sooo long!  ;P  If you made it to the bottom, GREAT FOR YOU!! Leave a comment or leave a rating below!  God bless you all lovely ladies!  Please prayerfully consider following me by e-mail or google!  God bless! :D
